This temple is located within Pratapgarh Fort, roughly 23–24 km west of Mahabaleshwar at an elevation of about 1,080 m. It was built in 1656 by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and later had its roof reconstructed by Raja Pratapsingh in the 19th century
